This week TK only ate my food twice. But once he ate it all before mommy noticed. I don't mind too much, I know his diet is very hard on him, and mommy gave me some new food to eat.
In other news, I have been taking antibiotics for a month now for a little infection. Usually the medicine comes in a liquid that mommy would have to squirt down my throat. When it comes to forcing us to do things we don't like, I think mommy is more unhappy than we are, so Dr. Segal said we could try pill-pockets. She chopped human pills into EIGHTHS. Can you imagine? They were very small pieces. She's a very special doctor!
For three weeks everything went well. Mommy called the pockets my "before-dinner-treat", and I didn't mind even though I knew it was medicine. The pill-pockets are salmon flavor and very yummy, so I let her get away with it. Then on Monday, when I was eating my "Treat", something went wrong and the pill-pocket got stuck on the roof of my mouth. I was very scared. There was much drooling, scratching, and meowing. Mommy finally helped me get it unstuck and it ended okay. But after that I will not eat those pill-pockets ever again.
For the last 4 days mommy has been sitting me on her lap and shoving pills in my mouth. Neither one of was happy about this turn of events. I tried to be a good-girl, but it was really hard.
So anyway, yesterday was my last pill so we are all very relieved.
In other news- remember the hungry deer mommy that was eating daddy's bird seeds? Well as I was writting my post, she brought her fawns to the feeder for the first time! Here are some pictures mommy took.
That's all I have for this week friends. We all hope you have a great weekend!
Love, Squashies.
So sorry you are having problems with the pills and so glad you are almost finished. I truly hope they help you get well.
ReplyDeleteThose baby fawns are just beautiful.
We're glad you're done with the meds now, Squashies, and sorry the pill pocket got stuck in your mouth and scared you.
ReplyDeleteThe fawns are adorable! One of our human's co-workers puts out deer feed in the winter, when the snow has covered the ground.
Have a wonderful Femme Friday and a terrific weekend!
Aw Squashies it is too bad the pill pocket got stuck - maybe that was just a weird one. And there are other flavors - maybe those are less sticky (we like the chicken and the duck and pea - we only eat the salmon if there is no pill in it!) Also, tell your mom to ask about compounding medicine in an ear gel - they can do that with a lot of medicines and it is so easy to do - mom does that with our oldest brother Kirzon. At least they were very tiny so that is a plus! We are glad you are done with them now though - we feel for anyone having to take a pill!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow it is so cool that you have deer visitors - and the babies are so cute! You must love watching them!
Have a great weekend!
Beautiful, sweet Squashies, we are happy to hear that you are finished with that med.....we hope it took care of your problem.

ReplyDeleteHi sweet Squashies, that is too bad about the pill pocket, what a nast experience it must have been to get it stuck! Thank goodnes the medicine is finished. My Molly has to take thyroid tablets everyday and she used to eat the pill pockets. Then one day she just stopped and decided she didn't like them anymore which is too bad because they were so easy! I don't like having to stuff them in her mouth but she is very good about it.
ReplyDeleteWow those fawns are beautiful!
Well at least the pills are all gone!!! Those little ones are so cute!

Oh, we hope you are all better and don't have to take any more pills now.
ReplyDeleteSquashies, I gets a pill every day from my Mommy so I am calmer and don't spray all over the house. (much) Mommy keeps her thumbnail short and she uses her thumb to push the pill down. I'm good, I don't bite. (much) ~ Maui

Hi, TK and Squashies. I came over from Rumblebum's blog to visit. Nice to meet you. How lovely that you have the pictures of kitties who have gone to the Bridge, or who are sick, on your side bar. And Kareltjie's Daddy too - very thoughtful of you.
ReplyDeleteYou're a good kitty to take your medicine so well. When we were all pups our Mom taught us to take pills so if we ever got sick, we'd know how to take them. It's really paid off because some of us need meds for various things and we line up to get them. Mom says we're all little furry hypochondriacs.

Glad you are done with the pills. Sorry you had a scare with the Pill Pocket! Those baby deer are sooo cute! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteVery happy to hear you are done with your pills - our Mom had the hardest time giving pills to our brother Austin. He had developed hyperthyroidism the last few years of his life, so he needed pills everyday... Austin got very smart & learned how to eat the pill pocket & spit out the pill! He also ate around them in his food & blocked them with his tongue when she tried to put them down his throat!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds scary that you got it stuck to the top of your mouth!! We don't blame you for refusing to eat them after that!!
Very cute baby deer, too!!
Have a great day!!
